Barrie Pallen
Barrie established BPA in 1993 and has developed long-lasting relationships with the Global & Divisional Heads of Tax in world-leading multinationals across APAC, LATAM & Europe. Many of the people he recruited as young tax professionals are today’s tax leaders.
Of greatest importance to Barrie is to provide the very best service possible to clients.
Barrie studied Economics & Marketing at university and comes from a family of entrepreneurs. He has enjoyed building the business over the years and seeing it expand from a predominantly UK focused search business, to one that operates globally.

As a fellow “parisienne”, she is handling assignments for roles based in France, but she is also dealing with tax recruitment projects across Europe. She recruits tax professionals from Assistant Tax Manager to Tax Manager grade. Lucienne has a strong interest in Human Resources. She makes sure to find the right fit for her clients and her candidates, as she understands how important recruitment is for organisations.
Lucienne is a French national and she speaks English fluently. Her hobbies are athletics, Afro/Latino dances, travelling and HR.
Martin Pallen
Martin joined BPA in July 2017 after completing his Business & Management degree with a 2:1. For his thesis, Martin created a hypothetical business plan to develop the BPA brand and some of his ideas have developed into new areas of business, in particular – identifying young tax talent for the future (BPA NexGen) and creating a new Tax Technology business stream (BPA TaxTech).
Martins’ focus since 2019 has been on APAC tax searches and in 2021 he has also started to develop BPA’s business in Africa & Middle East.
Outside of work Martin enjoys sports and travel, as well as having a keen interest in history, geography and current affairs.
Fahmida Begum
Following the completion of her Archaeology degree, Fahmida started her HR and Recruitment career within the Technology industry, coaching on best interview practices before moving on to hiring young tech talent. Now focusing on UK and EU Tax roles (but maintaining a keen interest in tech!), she continues to approach her work with great importance placed upon quality experiences and ED&I. If she’s not attempting a crossword or Sudoku puzzle, you’ll find her exploring the outdoors and expanding her huge collection of houseplants. She also loves to try her hand at various creative activities.
